# Tokenomics Overview

INX tokenomics are carefully crafted to encourage positive engagement and align the interests of all ecosystem participants for mutual benefit. Initial veINX positions will be distributed to various groups and early adopters to kickstart their involvement in the Ionex ecosystem. However, in line with the ve(3,3) model, sustained participation is essential to maintain long-term value and drive the protocol's success.

## Points and referrals

* Points accrual: Traders earn points based on volume, trade count, duration of open interest, and participation in educational quests. Points are redeemable per ecosystem schedules.
* Referral program: Referrers earn points based on referee activity and volume; tiers may apply based on active referrals and cumulative volume.

## Solver alignment

* Solvers may receive token incentives proportional to filled volume and quote competitiveness, with considerations for uptime and tight spreads.

## Perps → Tokenomics feedback loop

* A portion of Perps fees can be directed to INX buybacks and burns, as described in [Protocol Revenue](/tokenomics-ecosystem-wide/protocol-revenue.md).
* Perps activity increases ecosystem throughput, indirectly influencing emissions distributions and governance incentives.
